Marblehead native Rob Delaney, best known as co-creator of the Amazon Prime comedy “Catastrophe,” is coming home. The comedian/actor-writer will perform his stand-up comedy at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston Aug. 8.
Delaney, who graduated from Marblehead High School in 1995, was nominated for an Emmy with co-creator, Sharon Horgan, for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series in 2016. Last year, “Catastrophe” was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award for Best Scripted Comedy and in 2016 won the BAFTA TV Craft Awards for Best Comedy Writing.
Delaney, his wife, Leah, and their four sons live in London. The couple’s 2½-year-old son, Henry, died last year of brain cancer.
In 2018, Delaney was a breakout star as fan favorite “Peter W” in “Deadpool 2,” the newest member to the X-Force who has no powers but “just responded to the ad.” Last year, he also hosted Comedy Central UK’s Rob Delaney’s Stand Up Central, an eight-episode stand-up comedy showcase.
Delaney is set to appear opposite Charlize Theron and an ensemble cast in the upcoming film “Fair & Balanced.” The film centers around the stories of various female Fox News personnel and their altercations with founder Roger Ailes. He is set to play one of Megyn Kelly’s (Theron) producers. It is scheduled to be released on Dec. 20.
