Peabody man arrested in Lynn for fentanyl trafficking

LYNN — A 27-year-old Peabody man was arrested on fentanyl trafficking charges after police witnessed what they suspected was him conducting a drug deal in the city on Tuesday afternoon.

Along with trafficking fentanyl, Joel Gomez was charged with violation of the city knife ordinance.

Officers from the Lynn Police Drug Task Force saw what they believed to be Gomez dealing drugs and approached him after he pulled his car to the side of the road a short time later. Police saw what later tested positive for fentanyl and seized about 26 grams of the drug, $205 in cash and a knife, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
