SWAMPSCOTT — Seaside Cooperative Garden and Bertram House of Swampscott will host a groundbreaking celebration on Saturday, May 18, 1-4 p.m. The event is open to the public and anyone interested in learning about Seaside Cooperative Garden is encouraged to attend. The rain date is Sunday, May 19.
The festivities will be held on the patio and at the garden site on Bertram House grounds, 565 Humphrey St. The community may participate in a variety of hands-on activities such as building a fairy house with For the Love of Swampscott, making wildflower seed balls with North Shore Sprouts, or learning about gardening, conservation, or composting. Food and refreshments will be provided, and there will be a performance of jazz standards by local pianist Marc Maccini. There will be a raffle to benefit the garden, with an array of prizes donated by local companies. Parking for the event is available on Humphrey Street and in the parking lot off Bondelevitch Way (Phillips Park).

I am humbled by the work our members have put in and the support we received from Bertram House, the town of Swampscott, and local businesses. Now we get to celebrate our collaborative achievement,” said Seaside Cooperative Garden President Sarah Koch.
“We are excited to officially celebrate our new partnership with Seaside Cooperative Garden, and we are thrilled to be able to help support this important community organization,” said Bertram House of Swampscott Executive Director Josh MacQuarrie.
