SAUGUS — Police are investigating a fatal rollover crash on Main Street.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at 407 Main Street around 11 a.m. Tuesday, said Interim Police Chief Ronald Giorgetti.
The driver of the vehicle, a white Ram pickup truck, is identified only as a 47-year-old Tewksbury man pending notification of his next of kin, said Giorgetti. He was reportedly found trapped inside the truck when first responders arrived at the scene of the crash.
Saugus Firefighters Local 1003 reported on a Facebook page for the union that the jaws of life were used to free one person with serious personal injuries.
The driver was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died.
“It is under investigation and we’re not releasing any additional information,” said Giorgetti.
The crash is being investigated by the Saugus Police Department with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
Main Street was briefly closed following the crash, and the flow of traffic in the area remained limited Tuesday afternoon.
