LYNN — Two men were arrested on gun charges in connection with a shots fired incident on Rogers Avenue early Thursday morning, police said.
Ismael Peguero, 22, of Waltham, was charged with carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm without a firearm identification card, possession of a large capacity weapon/feeding device and receiving stolen property.
Deylis Encarnacion, 19, of Lynn, was charged with unlawful possession of ammo without a firearm identification card.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m., officers in the area of Rogers Avenue thought they heard gunshots, but couldn’t tell where the shots came from, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
Police later received a report of shots fired in the area of 44 Rogers Ave., and after searching the area, officers found shell casings and encountered two men in the backyard of a Rogers Avenue home, Kmiec said.
During a pat down of the men, police found a gun in Peguero’s pants pocket and a round of ammunition in the pocket of Encarnacion’s jacket. The men were subsequently arrested, Kmiec said.
No people or property was reported hit by the gunfire, Kmiec said.
The incident follows several other recent reports of shots fired in the city. Confirmed gunshots were reported on Arlington Street on Sunday night and a teacher discovered shooting damage to Hood Elementary School on Monday, April 8, which police believe happened sometime during that weekend.
