Brandon Harney, 27, of 12 Brookline St., was arrested and charged with assault and battery at 2:25 a.m. Thursday.

Shanlee McCarthy, 28, of 236 Crescent Ave., Revere, was arrested and charged with shoplifting by asportation and possession of a counterfeit note at 8:31 p.m. Wednesday.

William Murphy, 65, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and threat to commit crime at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.


A report of a motor vehicle crash at 5:49 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis and New Ocean streets; at 7:47 p.m. Wednesday at 388 Chatham St.; at 8:01 p.m. Wednesday at 50 Silsbee St.; at 9:02 p.m. Wednesday at 24 Chase St.; at 7:03 a.m. Thursday at 13 Western Ave.; at 7:13 a.m. Thursday at 61 Woodlawn St.

Breaking and Entering

A report of a breaking and entering at 8:20 a.m. Thursday at 3 Elmwood Ave.


A report of an opiate overdose at 12:09 a.m. Thursday at Green and Union streets.


A report of a larceny at 7:47 p.m. Wednesday at Walmart at 780 Lynnway.



Motor vehicle crash reported on Wednesday at 2:25 p.m. at Condon Circle. Officer reports no injuries and crash booked by the Massachusetts State Police.


Faulty burglar alarm sounded at Express at 730 Market St. on Wednesday at 10:05 a.m.

A 911 hangup received from Althleta at 705 Market St. on Wednesday at 10:35 a.m. Officer located caller and confirmed it was an accident.


Wires down at 673 Lowell and 687 Chestnut streets reported by a caller on Wednesday at 8:22 a.m. Reading Municipal Light and Lynnfield Fire Department notified.

Massachusetts State Police called for assistance to remove debris at Route 128 South at Exit 43 on Wednesday at 9:42 a.m. Police contacted the Department of Public Works.

Caller reported five Eco Mosquito, North Reading lawn signs were stolen from Summer Street on Wednesday at 10:42 a.m. Officer took report.

Report of an open door at 5 Tappan Court on Wednesday at 4:03 p.m. Officer checked the home with the owner and all was OK.



A report of a motor vehicle crash with no injuries on South Street at 12:06 p.m. on Wednesday.


A woman called at 8:37 a.m. on Wednesday wanting to speak with an officer because she was financially betrayed.

A caller reported a gallon jug with a brown substance in it at Lafayette and Maple streets at 9:54 a.m. on Wednesday.

A caller reported having a dispute with a painting worker on West Cottage Street at 5:06 p.m. on Wednesday.

A caller reported a low-hanging wire on Atlantic Avenue at 6:43 p.m. on Wednesday.

A caller reported that, sometime around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, someone was pounding on her Front Street door. She stated she tried to get downstairs but she recently had knee surgery. She wanted it reported in case it happened again.



Thomas Lanphear, 64, of 28 Cherry St., Danvers, was summoned following a motor vehicle crash at 36R Mount Vernon St. on Tuesday at 7:59 p.m. for the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Marie Yalitza Leon, 31, of 315 Charger St., Revere, was summoned following a motor vehicle stop at Red’s Kitchen & Tavern at 131 Newbury St. on Wednesday at 9:48 a.m. for unlicensed operation of motor vehicle.


Officer came upon a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday at 3:43 p.m. at 357 Lowell St. at 64 Proctor Circle. No injuries or tows.

Motor vehicle crash reported at 38 Forest and 2 Coleman streets on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Officer reports no injuries or tows.

Caller reports a motor vehicle drove over the sidewalk and crashed at the Lahey Medical Center at 1 Essex Center Drive on Tuesday at 6:41 p.m. Officer reports operator appears to be unresponsive. Patient taken to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center and vehicle towed by Mallia’s Towing.

Report of a hit and run crash on Tuesday at 6:53 p.m. Caller said vehicle struck a brick wall, went off the road and is now pulling into a driveway at 231 Lynnfield St. Officer checked the area and was unable to locate the vehicle. Officer checked the parked, unoccupied vehicle but there was no damage. Officer knocked on the door but there was no answer.

A report of a motor vehicle crash at 2 Perkins and 82 Lowell streets on Monday at 2:49 p.m. Officer reports no vehicles towed from the scene.

Caller reports a motor vehicle crash at 44 County St. and 1 Arnold Road on Monday at 3:28 p.m. Officer reports the operators exchanged information prior to his arrival.

Minor motor vehicle crash reported on Summit Street on Monday at 4:39 p.m. Officer reports no injuries and paperwork exchanged.

Animal Control

Caller from 10B Eastman Park left a voicemail for the animal control officer asking that her dead pet be removed on Wednesday at 9:08 a.m. On callback officer advised her that owners are responsible for disposal.

Resident from 156 Goodale St. reports receiving a summons for a citation he already paid. Animal control officer reported no answer on callback, but left a message advising him she does not issue summons and requested a callback for more information. On Wednesday at 9:26 a.m. he was given a verbal warning that his three dogs have not been licensed this year. License application and written warning sent. Officer spoke with Peabody District and advised them that the citation had been paid and court was notified. Court will rescind the summons. Officer left message for the caller advising him he would not have to appear.


Caller reports a metal object by the center guardrail at Route 128 South and 312 Lowell St. on Tuesday at 2:08 p.m. The Massachusetts Highway Department was notified.

Northshore Mall security reports a man was harassing women in the area on Tuesday at 3:13 p.m. He is described as a tall, skinny, white man with a shaved head and wearing a black jacket. The officer located the suspect by Barnes & Noble before he ran into the store. Officer issued Stephen Daniel Edmunds, 32, a permanent ban from the mall.

Caller reported a suspicious man and woman riding in a black SUV and going door-to-door giving away flags on Price Road on Tuesday at 5:22 p.m. Officer located the parties. They were unregistered solicitors trying to sell Kirby vacuums. They said they were done for the night and will register with police on Wednesday.

Report from Wood Trucking at 13 Lakeland Park Drive on Tuesday at 5:27 p.m. about vehicles parked on the side of the road making it difficult for the trucks to pass. Officer issued two parking tickets.

Bricks in the roadway reported at 52 Lynn St. on Wednesday at 12:42 a.m. Officer assisted the Department of Public Works in removing debris.

Disturbance reported at Avalon at Cranebrook at 1000 Crane Brook Way on Wednesday at 1:08 a.m. Reporting party said there’s a couple arguing in the hallway. Officer asked them to move along.

Caller from Pho Paris said his girlfriend is refusing to get out of his vehicle on Wednesday at 7:18 a.m. Officer reports woman took an Uber following a verbal disagreement.

Resident at 94 Tremont St. reported that her son has received two harassment calls from an unknown caller on Wednesday at 8:07 a.m.



Patrick J. Maggiano, 57, of 18 Cottage St., was arrested on warrant charges.

Kasey Owens, 31, of 112 Baldwin St., Charlestown, was arrested on warrant charges.


A report of a motor vehicle crash at Buffalo Wild Wings on Main Street at 12:48 a.m. Wednesday; at Pioneer Charter School of Saugus on Main Street at 12:47 p.m. Wednesday; at 38 Tuttle St. at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday; at 2 Essex St. at 8:52 p.m. Wednesday; at Kohl’s Department Store on Broadway at 12:44 a.m. Thursday.


A report of threats made at Square One Mall on Broadway at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday.

A report of two men wearing green vests and going door-to-door on Columbus Avenue at 5:39 p.m. Wednesday.

A caller on Main Street near Pearce Memorial Drive reported a landscaping company blowing debris from a yard onto the roadway at 8:27 a.m. Thursday.



Melquidania Gonzalez, 31, was arrested for shoplifting by concealing merchandise and shoplifting by asportation at 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

Gabriel Smith, 29, was arrested and charged with shoplifting by concealing merchandise and possession of a shielding device at 4:42 p.m. on Wednesday.

A report of a motor vehicle crash with property damage less than $1,000 at 174 Humphrey St. at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
