SAUGUS — Two Saugus firefighters were promoted last month.
Lt. Damian Drella and Acting Lt. Paul Eaves were sworn into their new roles on March 21 at Town Hall.
“I appreciate all the effort they’ve put into their careers and sacrifices they’ve made to get to these positions,” said Fire Chief Michael Newbury.
Drella, who is also a photograph and takes pictures for the department’s fire investigations, has been with the department since 1991. Prior to that, he was a dispatcher for three years.
Eaves has been with the department since 2011. He is also in the U.S. Army and works within the intelligence field. Both Drella and Eaves are EMTs.
“I’m proud of them and I think they’re going to fill their new roles very well,” said Newbury.
Town Manager Scott Crabtree agreed, saying he was “confident that Lt. Drella and Acting Lt. Eaves will excel in their new positions and continue to serve our town to the best of their abilities.”
“It is an honor and a privilege to promote these two public safety officials an I want to congratulate them and their families,” said Crabtree.
