The Lynn Tech softball team got its season off to a blazing start Tuesday, taking down Cristo Rey 17-5.
The Tigers got a stellar all-around performance from pitcher Theresa Mastropietro, who contributed on both sides of the ball. Mastropietro earned the win in the circle with six strikeouts and also went 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBI. Catcher Ariella Long went 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, while first baseman Adrianna Torres played well defensively.
Tech (1-0) hosts Innovation Friday.
GIRLS TRACK
Austin Prep 83, St. Mary’s 42
The Spartans had three first-place finishers, with Lily Belschner winning the long jump, Juliana Taborda winning the triple jump and Ann Romelus winning the shot put. Aalina Lara finished second in the 400 hurdles and Keyanni Chalmus finished third in the 200.
Marblehead 84, Winthrop 47
Anna Bedrossian was a double-winner for the Magicians, taking first in the discus (83 feet, 6 inches) and the javelin (68-2). Other winners for Marblehead were Cristina Botnaru in the 110 hurdles (19.2 seconds), Maeve Sherwood in the 100 (13.8), Meeghan Cronin in the 200 (30.3), Tess Whalen in the 800 (2:45.7), Bella Corsini in the one-mile (5:48.4) and Kristy Twaalfhoven in the two-mile (12:13.0).
For Winthrop, Tessa Ferrandi was a double-winner with first-place finishes in the high jump (4-6) and the triple jump (31-8). Other winners for the Vikings were Fiona MacPhail in the long jump (14-4) and the 400 (1:08.4), Mary Kate Pote in the shot put (28-11 1/2) and Alex Holzbach in the 400 hurdles (1:12.8).
Beverly 77, Peabody 54
Winners for Peabody were Arlene Davila in the shot put (34-10 3/4), Courtney Kline in the discus (93-8), Aaliyah Alleyae in the javelin (80-6), Jolene Murphy in the 200 (26.2) and Alexsandra Bettencourt in the 800 (2:28.5).
BOYS TRACK
St. Mary’s 95, Austin Prep 42
Taban Manyok had a huge day for St. Mary’s, taking first place in the high jump, the one-mile and the two-mile and taking third place in the javelin. Other winners for the Spartans were Matt Gallego (triple jump), George Freeman (100), Alec Colacitti (shot put), Chris Kolodziej (long jump), Connor Mackey (200) and Chris Mejia (110 hurdles).
Marblehead 90, Winthrop 45
Devin Romain was a double-winner for Marblehead, winning the long jump (21-5) and the 200 (24.2). Marblehead also got wins from Cam Heafitz in the high jump (5-6), Jarrod Langton in the triple jump (38-0), Derek Testa in the shot put (38-6 3/4), Jack McGrath in the javelin (137-11), Dylan Leveroni in the 110 hurdles (19.5), Joe Doherty in the 100 (11.6), Ciro Martin-Sotos in the one-mile (4:49.5) and Loeden Rodriques in the two-mile (11:09.7).
Winthrop’s winners were Brandon Preble in the discus (82-1), Mark Amatucci in the 400 hurdles (1:06.8), Michaelangelo Marcoccio in the 400 (57.9) and Tony Nargi in the 800 (2:09.6).
Peabody 92, Beverly 44
Kemani Jackson won three events for the Tanners on the afternoon, tying for first in the high jump (5-4) and taking solo first in the 110 hurdles (15.4) and the 400 hurdles (1:00.0). Jacob Hawthorne was a double-winner, tying for first in the high jump (5-4) and winning the triple jump (41-8). Other winners for Peabody were Gabriel Carvalho in the shot put (39-11 1/4), Joshua Newmann in the discus (104-0), Daniel Norman in the javelin (125-10), Chris Morales in the 400 (53.6), Joshua Atemkeng in the 800 (2:08.8) and Claudio Rocha in the two-mile (10:04.5).
GIRLS GOLF
Saugus 8, North Quincy 0
The Sachems opened the season with a home win at Cedar Glen. Winners for Saugus were Thea Raftelis (9-0), Caitlin Wright (9-0), Jessica Nazzaro (8-1), Jenna Moore (8-1), Abby Riciardelli (8-1), Julia Azzari (9-0), Isabella Serino (7-2) and Kylie Phillips (9-0).
Saugus (1-0) takes on Ursuline Academy Tuesday afternoon.

Hamilton-Wenham 4, St. Mary’s 1
The lone win for the Spartans came from Madison Desmond, who won her second singles match 8-6.
