I read in The Item that Lynn’s political leaders were given federal grant money that was taken by the federal government from U.S. taxpayers in order to hire 20 more city employees.
I have a few questions for the mayor and City Council members.
After two or three years when all that money has been spent, who is going to pay those salaries for the next few decades?
Who is going to pay for benefits like medical expenses for all of those employees and their families? Who is going to pay for all of those huge pensions?
Considering the fact that you recently borrowed $14 million to pay the salaries of the current city employees, who is going to pay back that money?
Clearly, Lynn’s politicians are destroying the city by bankrupting the taxpayers. Many Lynn taxpayers are already drowning in debt with some being forced to sell or abandon their homes. So, how do the mayor and councilors respond to this misfortune? They tie another anchor around the necks of their drowning victims.
By their silence, it looks like the Lynn taxpayers have given up. No one publicly challenges the reckless spending. No one will fight City Hall. The swamp creatures seem to be invincible. Hopefully, this is the calm before the storm.
