Letter to the Editor: Wallace for Planning Board

I am writing to endorse Thomas Wallace for the Lynnfield Planning Board. I first met Tom when he adopted a mixed-breed rescue dog that I was fostering on behalf of Cape Ann Animal Aid. Outside of any other endorsements, I can confirm that Tom is a wonderful dog owner and has given Delta — a sweet girl who suffered many unpleasant experiences prior to her rescue — a life worthy of any other dog’s envy.

But enough about dogs. The Planning Board is one of the most critical public bodies in our town. It helps shape Lynnfield through its decisions concerning both residential and commercial development and has the power to influence public and private spaces within a town. Tom’s background makes him uniquely suited for a position on this board, including his bachelor’s degree in resource planning and his 20 years of service in the United States Air Force.

Tom has repeatedly demonstrated a strong interest in guiding our community towards smart development and prudent allocation of town resources by attending nearly every open meeting in Lynnfield since he filed his papers to run for this office. He asks educated and thoughtful questions and is clearly committed to familiarizing himself with all town issues before joining the Planning Board. If elected, I believe Tom will work tirelessly to support economic development while remaining sensitive to our historic roots and the natural beauty that graces Lynnfield.

I thank all current and former members of the Planning Board for their service, but Lynnfield also needs new people with innovative ideas to participate in town government. As those of you who know him may attest, Tom is a unique, energetic and talented individual, and I believe he will provide a fresh perspective to the Planning Board. We need people like Tom to bring transparency, accountability, and professionalism to a critical body whose jurisdiction extends to every private home and commercial property in town. Please join me in voting for him on April 9.
