MARBLEHEAD — Antje Duvekot, one of Boston’s top singer-songwriters, appears at the me&thee on Friday. She has won multiple songwriting awards, including the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the Boston Music Award for Outstanding Folk Act. Boston’s Alice Howe opens the show at 8 p.m.
Duvekot has solidified her reputation as a top-notch musician with a discography that includes many stellar songs. Her latest album, Toward the Thunder, is perhaps her most personal album to date; the songs focus on courage and resilience. It includes an array of musical talent like Shawn Mullins, Anais Mitchell, Liz Longley and Richard Shindell. She has toured extensively across the United States and Europe and has played some of the top festivals, including Newport Folk, Kerrville, Philadelphia, as well as the Celtic Connection Festival in Scotland and the Donder Festival in Denmark.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $23 at the door. Student tickets are $10. Tickets are available online at www.meandthee.org or at the door.
The me & thee is one of the oldest continually running acoustic coffeehouses in New England, and probably the country. It has been and will always be a volunteer, non-profit organization sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Marblehead. For information and directions, call 781-631-8987 or check the website at www.meandthee.org.
Next concert: Friday, March 15: Singer-songwriter David Mallett from Maine. Marina Evans and Bernardo Baglioni open the show.
