SAUGUS — Kindergarten registration for both half-day and full-day programs will be on March 13 and March 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Roby School Administration Office.
The offices are located at 23 Main St.
There is no charge for half-day kindergarten. Registration for all-day kindergarten is on a first-come, first-served basis, and requires a $200 non-refundable deposit.
Online payments are recommended and can be completed on the district website prior to registration.
Parents should bring the printed receipt or a certified bank check or money order payable to Saugus Public Schools.
Securing a slot is contingent on submission of paperwork by May 1. Flyers are available at all elementary schools and at the Roby Building.
At the time of registration, parents will be given an information packet with instructions for September 2019 registration. Kindergarten screening dates and packet return dates will be assigned at registration.
According to School Committee regulations, children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31, 2019, to register for kindergarten. No exceptions will be made.
Parents are reminded that Massachusetts state law requires that before children are allowed to enter public schools, proof must be provided that they have been immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella.
The following medical documents are required for admission to the Saugus Public Schools along with your registration package:
- child’s birth certificate, vision screening certification (current within the previous 12 months)
- proof of lead screening (test results)
- proof of immunization
- proof of residency (i.e. mortgage payment, lease or landlord verification form)
- proof of child’s most recent physical examination or an upcoming appointment
- proof of student withdrawal from previous school
- copy of student IEP or 504 if student needs these services
- picture identification of parent/guardian driver’s license and/or passport
The superintendent of schools will be hosting an informational meeting on Monday, March 4, 2019, at 6 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Elementary School library, 39 Hurd Ave.
