BOSTON — The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) awarded Nahant resident Kathryn Menio the Authority’s “Logan Stars” award. The award honors non-Massport employees at Boston Logan International Airport who exemplify the highest level of customer service and/or perform acts of courage.

In March of 2018, Menio, the director of Rooms and Guest Services at Hilton Boston Logan Airport, and six fellow Hilton employees rushed to aid an engineering staff member who suffered cardiac arrest on the job. The group immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, called 911, and retrieved an automated external defibrillator while waiting for an ambulance and emergency medical technicians to arrive. Thanks to their swift actions, their co-worker and friend is alive.

Menio has been with Hilton since 2011. She was recognized during a ceremony at Logan’s Terminal E on January 16.

“The safety and security of our passengers and employees is our top priority,” said Acting Massport CEO John Pranckevicius. “The Logan Stars award gives Massport the opportunity to shine a spotlight on individuals like Kathryn who go above and beyond the call of duty.”
