BOSTON — The region’s premier outdoor amphitheater located on the waterfront in the city’s Seaport neighborhood, most recently known as the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion, has a new sponsor.
Rockland Trust Co. and Live Nation unveiled the Rockland Trust Bank Pavilion, the new name-in-title sponsorship of the venue. Hosting about 40 events each year and welcoming 180,000 live music fans annually, the venue is a landmark for the region’s arts and culture scene.
If anticipated regulatory approvals are received, Rockland Trust’s Boston locations will also include a branch at 87 Seaport Boulevard in the Seaport District nearby the Rockland Trust Bank Pavilion following the merger of Blue Hills Bank into Rockland Trust.
“We’re thrilled to be a part of Boston’s Seaport community and support this wonderful performing arts venue that has entertained so many families, residents, and visitors over the years,” said Christopher Oddleifson, CEO of Rockland Trust. “We look forward to being an active and engaged neighbor and building relationships in one of Boston’s most exciting neighborhoods.”
“Rockland Trust has long-standing, deep roots in the community, and will now have the opportunity to power truly vibrant experiences in a premier venue through live music,” said Andy Peikon, senior vice president, Venue Sales, Live Nation. “We are excited to have found the right partner to contribute to Boston’s already bustling art and culture scene.”
The pavilion is one of Boston’s most popular outdoor amphitheaters and has hosted some of the city’s most memorable concerts. With a seating capacity of 5,000, the site is also one of the largest in the area. Some of the most notable acts to perform in recent years include Sting, Diana Ross, Van Morrison, and Don Henley.
