LYNN — A Lynn man was arrested in connection to a Tuesday night robbery after police found his cellphone at the scene.
Joel Sanchez, 31, of 2 Stephen St., was arrested on a warrant charge of unarmed robbery and a straight warrant charge at 3:32 p.m. on Thursday, according to Lt. Michael Kmiec of the Lynn Police. Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, the suspect allegedly hit a 20-year-old Lynn man from behind, knocked him to the ground, and then robbed him.
The robbery took place in the area of 22 Elm St., said Kmiec. The suspect told the victim to hand over his things and took off with the man’s phone, cash and jacket, according to Kmiec.
The police department investigated the robbery for two days before catching up with Sanchez. Kmiec said the suspect dropped his cellphone during the robbery. The victim recovered the phone and handed it over to the responding officers on Tuesday at the scene.
Further investigation after receiving the cellphone led to the arrest of Sanchez, said Kmiec.
