Complaints
A caller from the Blue Canoe called to report she received a call from someone claiming to be National Grid at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday. She stated they told her the electricity would be shut off if she didn’t pay her bill. She stated she was aware it was a scam but just wanted the police department to be aware.
A caller reported at 11:06 a.m. on Tuesday that the sign at the bottom of State Street is missing and, as a result, vehicles were illegally parking on the street. The Highway Department was notified.
A walk-in reported at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday that she received a call regarding her social security. She was advised not to call them back.
A caller reported a motor vehicle almost struck hers after it was driving at a high rate of speed on Pond Street and Peach Highlands at 4:27 p.m. on Tuesday. She stated she followed the motor vehicle and it went behind the Veteran’s School and believed the driver may be young or impaired. Responding officers checked the surrounding areas and were unable to locate the vehicle.
An officer was flagged down by someone who stated there was a child left unattended at CVS Pharmacy on Atlantic Avenue at 5:12 p.m. on Tuesday. Responding officers checked the store for the owner of the vehicle and reported the child did not seem to be in distress at the time. Officers found the child’s father and he stated his child is 6 years old and ran into the store for a brief moment to buy something.

Arrest
Mayco Mendez, 24, of 57 Beacon Hill Ave., Apt 2, Lynn, was arrested on Tuesday at 11:12 a.m. following a motor vehicle stop at 286 Washington St. and 2 Granite St. and charged with the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, no inspection sticker, and window obstruction.

A motor vehicle crash without injuries was reported on Monday at 4:17 p.m. at 321 Lowell St. Both vehicles were towed by Arrington Towing. Passengers on the bus were picked up by a new bus. Officer will document.
A two-car motor vehicle crash with no injuries was reported at 85 Andover St. and 6 Esquire Drive on Monday at 4:41 p.m. Officer reports parties exchanged paperwork.
Motor vehicle crash with airbag deployment at 751 Lowell St. and 2 Catherine Drive on Tuesday at 8:19 a.m. Officer reported Gaeta’s Towing en route. Operator of the first car was being checked out by EMS from Atlantic. Operator of the second vehicle refused treatment.
Minor motor vehicle crash reported on Tuesday at 1:12 p.m. at the U.S. Post Office on Essex Green Drive. Officer assisted with paperwork exchange.
Animal Control
Fine in the amount of $25 was issued and mailed to Thomas Zellen, 5 Penn Road, for an unrestrained dog on Monday at 4:06 p.m. He received written and verbal warnings in 2018.
Report of an 8-year-old runaway red Labrador with an orange collar on Tuesday at 10:49 p.m. Cooper was last seen near Calumet Street. Animal Control officer reports pet was found and returned to the owner.
Caller left a voicemail reporting her neighbor was walking his dog off leash on Tuesday at 10:57 p.m. Animal Control officer suggested she continue to video the incidents in the event he continues to disregard the leash law.

Woman reported her cell phone was stolen Saturday night at the Northshore Mall at 210 Andover St. on Monday at 4:19 p.m. Officer reports there are no suspects at this time.
Caller from Richdale at 139 Lynnfield St., Apt. 100 reported a gray sedan pulled into the parking lot and drove 15 miles per hour down Lynnfield Street while swerving on Monday at 6:20 p.m. Caller said he was concerned driver might be drunk. Officer checked the area and could not find any matching vehicle.
A small black plastic bag was found on Donna Street near a guardrail to enter the woods filled with nips and drug paraphernalia on Monday at 7:25 p.m. Officer will dispose.
Strong odor of gas reported at 6 Harris St. on Monday at 10:27 p.m. Found to be unfounded following an investigation by the Peabody Fire Department.
Homeowner at 2 Aborn Place said a car was left in front of his home after an accident on Tuesday at 8:01 a.m. Vehicle is being towed from the public way with heavy damage. Officer will document.
Contractor requested an officer stand by while he collects his ladders from a client’s home at 59 Harrison Ave. on Tuesday at 8:36 a.m. The officer reports the ladders are not at the house. The homeowner has them at a different location and will have the ladders returned and contact the contractor to pick them up.
Starbucks at 240 Andover St. reports a woman screaming at another customer on Tuesday at 11:01 a.m. Officer reports suspect left prior to police arrival.
Suspicious 25-year-old man reported wearing a black hoodie pacing back and forth in front of 9 Oak Ave. on Tuesday at 11:43 a.m. Officer spoke with party who said he was waiting for a cab and working for a moving company in the area.
Medical Aid
Well-being check requested on Monday at 8:54 p.m. by a Dunkin’ Donuts employee about a man in a green jacket sleeping outside the coffee shop at 3 Central St. and is concerned for his safety since he could be under the influence of drugs. Store reports party is alert and leaving the area on foot toward Walnut Street. Officers checked the area and could not locate him.
