Behind a natural hat trick from captain Colin Reddy, the St. Mary’s boys hockey team earned a 9-2 win over Catholic Central League rival Arlington Catholic at Ed Burns Arena Wednesday night.
Damon Maribito, Jared Coppola, Max Giardina, Colby Magliozzi, Owen Maguire (first career varsity goal) and Christian Moran each scored once.
Starting goalie Joe Purtell played two periods and made 12 saves. Goalie Sam York made his first career varsity appearance in the third period and logged five saves.
“It was great to see the entire roster contribute tonight,” Spartans coach Mark Lee said. “It was a good effort all around.”
St. Mary’s (6-1) visits Newburyport Saturday (2).
BOYS HOCKEY
Saugus 7, Peabody 1
Adam Rodrigues scored three goals en route to his first career hat trick. Massey Ventre and Nick Aiken each scored their first career varsity goal. Dante McGrane and Ronnie Paolo added one goal apiece.
The Sachems (3-2-2) host Medford Saturday (4:30).
Amesbury 3, Swampscott 1
Drew Olivieri scored Swampscott’s lone goal on assists from Conor Donovan and Zach Elwell. The Big Blue (2-4-1) visit Somerville Saturday (5).
Reading 2, St. John’s 1
The Eagles fell to 2-2-2 on the season. St. John’s hosts Malden Catholic Saturday (6).
GIRLS HOCKEY
Winthrop 3, Watertown 0
Emma Carleton, Emma Holmes and Mia Martucci each scored one goal as the Vikings improved to 6-1 on the season. Carleton and Bella Perrotti each logged two assists. Olivia Driscoll dished one assist. Goalie Summer Tallent earned the shutout win with 14 saves.
Winthrop hosts Masconomet Saturday (1) at Larsen Rink.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Swampscott 67, Danvers 43
At Danvers, Jake Goldman powered Swampscott with 25 points. Jackson Byrne added 12 points. Both Goldman and Byrne netted four 3-pointers.
“I’m very proud for Jake for his leadership,” Swampscott coach Justin Fucile said. “He’s mainly a defender and he’s the best defender we have in the press. He’s the key to our defense. It was nice to see him score, especially when Jackson and Andrew Augustin got in foul trouble early.”
Swampscott (4-2) hosts Malden Friday night (7).
Revere 49 Chelsea 45 (OT)
Revere’s top performers were Nick Ciciulla (12 rebounds, four blocks), Omar Bendjahene (12 points) and Dillan Day (12 points, six rebounds).

Tech 46, Minuteman 35
The Tigers improved to 2-6 with the win. Arianna Anaya and Michayla Lawrence each scored 12 points, and Niyo Mwajuma added nine points. Jafernee Cruz led the way defensively and finished with 6 points. Tech visits Nashoba Valley Tech Friday.
KIPP 47, Nashoba Tech 23
Tatiana Megie-Maddrey led all scorers with 13 points, nine of which were scored in the second half. Megie-Maddrey also tallied four assists and four steals.
Destiny Guzman scored 11 points with four steals and Amaya Liburd scored 10 points.
The Panthers improved to 4-1 with the win.

Medford 48, Classical 29
The Rams featured first-place performances from Jacob Reyes (50-yard hurdle, 8.4 seconds) and Junior Mejia (one-mile, 5:16.1). Other notable performances were John Fernandez (second in the shot put at 38 feet, three inches), Wando Perez (second in the 50-yard hurdle at 8.7 seconds, second in the 50-yard dash at 6.0 seconds), Oladeji Jolaoso (second in the 300 meter at 41.4 seconds), Dante Migia (second in the 1000 meter at 3:25.3) and Kyle McCarthy (second in the two-miles at 12:40.7).
St. John’s 88, Malden Catholic 5
The Eagles featured first-place finishers in Jack Curin in the 55 meter (6.95 seconds), Harry Portorreal in the 300 meter (39.71), Greg Pykett in the 600 meter (1:32.30), Connor Hughes in the one-mile (4:40), Matt Quinn in the two-miles (10:51) and Nate Boucle in the shot put (four feet, 11.25 inches).

The Rams featured first-place performances from Jayla Blevins in the high jump (four feet, eight inches), Maysie Jean-Louis in the 50-yard hurdle (8.3 seconds), Slanny Portorreal in the 300 meter (49.0 seconds), Olivia Waterman in the 1000 meter (3:46.3), Rachel Brennan in the one-mile (6:10.6) and Miriam Bamaca in the two-miles (14:11.6).
