The Swampscott boys basketball team grabbed its second win in a row with a 67-44 victory over Rockport in the championship game of the Rockport Holiday Tournament Saturday. Max Pegnato led the Big Blue with 13 points. Jackson Byrne (tournament MVP) scored 12 points and Andrew Augustin added 10.
A solid start fueled the Big Blue to the victory, as Swampscott led 26-7 at the end of the first quarter.
“We’ve turned up our defensive pressure to a level we expect to play at,” Swampscott coach Justin Fucile said. “We’re looking forward to continuing to do that. Cole Cassidy and Jack Leahy stepped up. We have to continue to stop penetration and we have to get better in our half court game. We just need to keep getting better but the leadership our seniors are showing has been terrific.”
