Christmas may be over, but there are always families in need during the holidays. Your donations to Item Santa now are just as important as the ones before the holiday, especially for families like the one in today’s letter.
A mother wrote Item Santa asking for a little help after moving to a new home. As anyone who’s moved can tell you, it comes with big expenses, and for this family, that means there’s little and less to be spent on gifts.
“This year we just moved to a new place, and what’s earned goes directly into the home, so I won’t be able to provide gifts to my kids this year,” she wrote.
That’s not a problem for her older children, who understand that Christmas is about family and being with the ones you love. But the younger kids hope that Santa can deliver them something special under the tree.
“Thank you so much Santa, from a mom who will be thankful.”
Now in its 52nd year, the Item Santa fund helps to make Christmas brighter for the needy. To donate, clip the coupon in The Item and mail it, along with your check, to The Item Salvation Army Santa, PO Box 5, Lynn, MA 01903. You can visit itemsanta.org to make a donation online.
All donations are listed in Item print editions through the month of December and into 2019, along with a brief message from each donor, if desired.
