The mother of a little girl with disabilities is in need of help this Christmas season.
“My daughter is a very loving and caring 10-year-old,” she wrote in a letter to Item Santa. “She has been through so much in her young life and all I want is to give her the amazing Christmas she deserves.”
The mother has found herself in a time of financial hardship. Taking care of her daughter has become a full time job.
“Unfortunately, in order to properly care for her needs, I have been unable to work for several years,” she wrote.
While the family receives some assistance from the state, there is not enough left after basic needs are met to pay for Christmas gifts, decorations, or other things that are not vital for survival.
She’s asking for help from Item Santa and its donors to help make the holiday special.
“Your assistance this year is greatly needed and very much appreciated,” she wrote. “Thank you and God bless.”
Now in its 52nd year, the Item Santa fund helps to make Christmas brighter for the needy. To donate, clip the coupon in The Item and mail it, along with your check, to The Item Salvation Army Santa, P.O. Box 5, Lynn, MA 01903. You can visit itemsanta.org to make a donation online.
All donations are listed in Item print editions through the month of December and into 2019, along with a brief message from each donor, if desired.
