Telethon raises $350,000 for “Explosion Recovery”

WCVB Channel 5’s “Relief Fund 5: Explosion Recovery” telethon raised more than $350,000 (and counting) for the Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief Fund during Tuesday’s day-long fundraising event.  In partnership with The Essex County Community Foundation (ECCF), “Relief Fund 5: Explosion Recovery” will provide funds this holiday season to help those still struggling in the aftermath of the Merrimack Valley gas line disaster.

Viewers were encouraged to call or go online to donate money from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Phone banks were staffed by station employees and other volunteers who took pledges from area viewers. Viewers are still encouraged to donate online at WCVB.COM/recovery.
