LYNN — The Lynn Public Library, 5 N. Common St., will host The Delvena Theatre Company’s production of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” on Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s community room. Three actors perform 24 roles, everyone from Tiny Tim to miserly Mr. Scrooge himself. Playwright Fran Baron adapted the script for library performance from Dickens’ own one-man “Christmas Carol” show. The first American production of Dickens’ one-man Carol was performed at the Parker House in Boston.
Baron has written several scripts for the Delvena Theatre including “Isabella,” which was recently performed at the Lynn library. She will narrate the show and perform the role of Mrs. Cratchit.
Joseph Zamparelli, who has performed several roles for Delvena Theatre including both Franklin and Teddy Roosevelt in “Truly Eleanor,” will play Mr. Scrooge. Zamparelli will also do something that Dickens would never have thought possible: running the sound effects for the show from an iPhone hidden in a book.
Lynne Moulton, a Delvena regular who has played Julia Child, Shirley Valentine, and Eleanor Roosevelt in past shows, will perform the roles of Bob Cratchit, Fred, all the ghosts and a whole bunch of other characters. Moulton received her acting education at Boston University, The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and Trinity Rep Conservatory.
