REVERE — Two suspects are still at large after three people attempted to rob an elderly woman at gunpoint in the Beachmont neighborhood of Revere.
Police initially responded to a report that three youths tried to rob an elderly woman at about 5:55 p.m. Saturday, according to Massachusetts State Police spokesman Dave Procopio. One of the assailants reportedly showed a gun during the attempt.
State, Transit, and Boston police responded to assist Revere officers with the search. Two people matching the description of the suspects were spotted at the Beachmont MBTA station, and immediately ran when they saw officers, according to Revere Police Lt. Glenn Malley.
One suspect was caught and arrested. The other jumped onto the tracks, and officers gave chase as the suspect ran into the marsh. The MBTA briefly shut down service on the Blue Line while officers and K9 units continued the search on the tracks and surrounding area between Beachmont and Suffolk Downs stations.
The search was terminated at approximately 7:15 p.m. and the suspect remains at-large, said Procopio. The investigation is ongoing.
