PEABODY — Two pedestrians were struck and seriously injured by a motor vehicle on Washington Street Thursday evening, according to Peabody Fire Department.
According to a report from WCVB television, a mother and her four-year-old son were crossing the road after the mother picked up her son from a nearby day care. The report came from a witness who operates the day care the station said.
Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Daly said the adult and child were hit at about 5:30 p.m. and suffered significant trauma. The driver stopped and waited for help, he said.
A medical helicopter was requested, but was it unable to fly due to the inclement weather. The victims were taken to a Boston hospital for treatment, Daley said.
The identity of the victims and their conditions was not known.
