Tim Delehaunty, Head of Tower School in Marblehead, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning. He was 49.
According to Captain Elizabeth Wilson of the Marblehead Fire Department, Delehaunty was stricken with an unexpected, sudden illness. He was found at home by his family and was transported by Atlantic Ambulance to Salem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said Wilson, who declined to give any further information.
The private school’s Board of Trustees announced Delehaunty as the Tower School’s ninth Head of School in 2016, according to the school’s website..
Delehaunty’s biography on the school’s website says he worked for nine years as the head of Upper School at New Canaan Country School in New Canaan, Conn., and served as Director of Studies at Lawrence Academy in Groton.
He attended Worcester Academy, and attended the College of the Holy Cross.
Delehaunty and his wife, Theresa, have two children.
The Tower School is an independent day school in Marblehead.
