NAHANT — One firefighter was injured Monday afternoon while extinguishing a mattress fire.
Just before 4 p.m., Nahant firefighters were dispatched to 386 Nahant Road for a report of smoke in a building. First arriving crews on Engine 31, under the command of Capt. Dean Palombo, located a mattress burning inside a concrete structure, according to a statement from Fire Chief Michael Feinberg.
Crews from Ladder 31 and Engine 32 assisted in quickly extinguishing the fire and clearing the building of smoke. Following an investigation, the cause of the fire was not determined.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury during the incident.
The Lynn Fire Department responded to a mutual aid call and provided station coverage while Nahant crews responded to the scene.
