LYNN — A machete-wielding homeowner was able to successfully thwart an armed burglary at his Judge Road home on Monday night.
The 37-year-old homeowner was alerted to the break-in after hearing glass shatter and people inside his home. Two male suspects broke a glass slider door at the back of the house, leading the homeowner to grab a machete, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
When the homeowner encountered the suspects, identified as Adelson Fedna, a 19-year-old Medford man, and a 16-year-old juvenile, they were armed. One was holding a kitchen knife and the other had a BB gun, Kmiec said.
Wielding the machete, the homeowner had the suspects lie down until police arrived, Kmiec said.
Police responded to the home shortly after 8 p.m. They found Fedna and the juvenile with two phones, which were returned to the homeowner at the scene, Kmiec said.
Fedna and the juvenile were each arrested and charged with armed burglary.
