LYNNFIELD — Less than four months after being rejected for the town manager position here, Robert Curtin is a finalist for a similar job in Stoneham.
The 56-year-old assistant town manager in Lynnfield was third out of three candidates for the $130,000 town administrator’s job in Nahant last summer. Now, he’s one of three finalists for the Stoneham post.
If chosen, Curtin would replace Thomas Younger, who recently resigned.
“Bob’s been a fantastic asset to the town and I’d hate to lose him,” said Selectman Phil Crawford. “But I don’t blame him for looking for a higher position with more responsibility.”
Instead of choosing Curtin, who has served as an assistant town manager for nearly a decade, the Lynnfield Board of Selectmen selected former Melrose Mayor Robert Dolan for the $160,000 post.
The story was first reported on Lynnfield Patch Monday night.
This time, Curtin faces competition from Somerville Alderman-at-Large William White, an attorney whose résumé includes work on the development of Assembly Row and the new Somerville High School project.
The other candidate, Dennis Sheehan, of Melrose, has experience as a property manager and has worked for Watertown’s Department of Public Works since 2014.
A decision is expected by year’s end.
