The Swampscott girls soccer team picked up a 4-0 shutout win over Northeastern Conference opponent Medford Saturday afternoon. Senior Haley Bernhardt led the Big Blue’s winning effort with another dominant performance. Bernhardt scored three goals and dished one assist. Mackenzie Kearney scored one goal. In net, goalie Nikki Rosa recorded five saves.
The Big Blue improved to 9-4-1 with the victory and host Marblehead Wednesday afternoon (4) at Blocksidge Field.

Everett 2, Classical 0
At Everett, the late-season woes continued for the Rams in a shutout loss. Classical slipped to 7-5-1 and visits Malden Monday afternoon (4). The Rams are three points away from sealing a berth in the state tournament.
BOYS SOCCER
Saugus 5, English 1
The Sachems avenged a loss to the Bulldogs earlier in the season with Saturday’s victory at Anna Parker Playground. Jhonatta Almeida and Ryan Pugh led the Saugus attack with two goals each. Jonathan Rodrigues scored one goal and distributed one assist.
The Sachems improved to 7-6 with the victory and visit Amesbury Monday afternoon (4).
St. John’s 1, St. John’s (S) 0
At the Prep, Zach Davis scored the game-winner in the closing stages of the second half. The Eagles improved to 10-2-5 with the win.

The Marblehead boys cross country team won the Varsity A-II (large schools) race at the Brown University Cross Country Northeast Invitational on Saturday.
