Injuries have taken a toll on Fenwick quarterback Cory Bright during his varsity football career at Bishop Fenwick. Friday night, Bright had his moment when the senior signal-caller broke the school’s all-time passing record in a 56-6 win over Cardinal Spellman at Donaldson Stadium.
“We had a lot of fun all night long,” Fenwick coach Dave Woods said. “It was just great to see him having fun and playing healthy. It was pretty cool. I’m just happy for him. He’s healthy, playing football and having fun.”
The record was previously held by Brett Kidik. Bright needed 166 passing yards entering Friday night’s game and finished with 372. Bright completed 9-of-16 pass attempts and tossed five touchdown passes.
With the victory, Fenwick capped its regular season at 6-1 and sits in great position with the Division 6 North tournament pairings to be announced Sunday.
“With Cory back the last two weeks, I think we’re in good shape,” Woods said. “We’re peaking at the right time. With everyone healthy it’s going to be a fun run. We’re playing for a league title against St. Mary’s on Thanksgiving so there’s a lot to look forward to.”
Joe Rivers and Keegan O’Connor each scored two touchdowns. David Cifuentes, Angel Martinez, Rob Favuzza each scored one touchdown.

Revere (4-3) awaits the Division 4 North pairings. Patriots coach Lou Cicatelli isn’t sure if the Patriots are a lock for a tournament bid but said his team’s looking forward to closing the season on a high note regardless of whether or not the Patriots make the playoffs.
“We’re excited,” Cicatelli said. “We’re playing really good football. We ran into a buzzsaw last week at Swampscott. We’re battling the injury bug but we had a lot of young kids step up and make plays. We want to keep this thing going as long as we can.”
