Feeling lucky? Then you may want to buy a Mega Millions ticket, as the multi-state lottery game approaches a record jackpot. The lure of the $654 million jackpot drew players from across the state, including Joe Lang, pictured above, who purchased a ticket at Nina’s Market in Lynn.
The estimated prize is just shy of the all-time game record of $656 million set in 2012. There hasn’t been a Mega Millions winner since 11 California co-workers split a $543 million stake in July.
Tickets are $2, and are on sale until 10:45 p.m. Tuesday night. The drawing happens 15 minutes later.
If you really want to press your luck, there’s also a $345 million Powerball drawing on Wednesday. Combined, the two multi-state games could pay out $999 million in the next two days. That won’t make you a billionaire, but it’s not bad.
