SAUGUS — There will be an open house at the Saugus Fire Department Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will be free at the department’s headquarters on Hamilton Street. It is intended to teach families fire safety and prevention practices including “stop, drop and roll,” how to craft an escape plan, and how to crawl safely through a smoke-filled room.
During the open house, the Fire Department will unveil the town’s new $695,000 fire engine, which will replace a 22-year-old engine firefighters have been using.
Papa Gino’s will provide free pizza and children’s fire safety coloring sheets.
