MARBLEHEAD — The open application process for funding local projects in arts, humanities, history and interpretive science closes on Oct. 15 for the Marblehead Cultural Council. That’s the deadline for submitting online applications for programs and events planned in 2019. Individuals, groups, organizations and schools may apply for a grant through a simple online process.
Reflecting a slight increase in state funding, the Marblehead Cultural Council will award more than $5,000 in grants. The MCC instituted new priorities beginning with this cycle that focus on emerging and established local artists, cultural programs, community events, public performances, arts in schools as well as historical, environmental and science education. Grants can also be used to support exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term residencies, workshops and lectures. In addition, organizations are now eligible to receive funding for capital expenditures, items valued at more than $500 for more than three years.
Under state guidelines, all grants must have a local, accessible venue, must benefit local residents and must be completed within the calendar year. The online application form, requirements, priorities and limitations are explained online.
Video tutorials, step-by-step assistance and a recorded webinar are all available online.
The Mass Cultural Council has established a help desk to answer questions and live assistance with technical issues at 617-858-2721.
