Swampscott and Lynn libraries to host a play about the life of Isabella Stewart Gardner

The Delvena Theatre Company will present two performances of its production of “Isabella” at Swampscott Public Library, 61 Burrill St., on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m., and at Lynn Public Library, 5 North Common St., on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m.

The production, written by Fran Baron, will feature Baron in the title role of Isabella Stewart Gardner, and Lynne Moulton as her maid, Lottie. Joseph Zamparelli is also in the cast.

Gardner was founder of the Gardner Museum in Boston. The play is about her life, charm, friends and acquaintances, travels, stylish taste and unconventional behavior. The cast will open up to the audience for discussion about her following the performance.

Delvena was founded in 1992 and has performed at various venues, most often at the Boston Center for the Arts.  The company was nominated for five Independent Reviewers of New England awards. Its production of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” was on Theatre Mirror’s best list for acting, directing and production. Presentations of “Anna Weiss” and “Beyond Therapy” were included on Theatre Mirror’s best play list and “Blue Heart” was on Aisle Say’s best list.
