SAUGUS — An 82-year-old man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday after he was struck by a car backing out of a driveway on Mount Vernon Street.
The Saugus resident was walking on the sidewalk when he was struck by a 2006 Nissan Altima driven by a 65-year-old Billerica man, said Saugus Police Lt. Ronald Giorgetti. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital shortly after 4 p.m.
“The driver didn’t see the pedestrian and struck the pedestrian while backing out,” said Giorgetti. “His injuries did not appear to be life threatening.”
No charges have been filed against the driver at this time, he said.
