LYNNFIELD — A 69-year-old Revere woman was injured after a rogue tire smashed into the windshield of her car while she was driving on Route 95 North Thursday afternoon.
State Police Trooper Paul Sullivan said the tire came from a car traveling southbound near Exit 43 at 2 p.m.
A 2005 Nissan Altima, driven by a 25-year-old Boston woman, lost the tire, which flew across the highway, striking the windshield of a 2007 Toyota Camry traveling in the opposite direction, Sullivan said.
The Revere woman was taken to Melrose Wakefield Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and both cars were towed. The other woman was not injured. Police declined to release their names.
State Police shut down all lanes but the breakdown lane for a short period in order to tow the cars out of the area.
