Road rage prompts Lynn Police search

Lynn Police are searching for a driver involved in a road rage incident Wednesday night.

The dust-up occurred at the intersection of Chestnut and Essex streets at about 8 p.m., according to police. After the fact, officers were called to Salem Hospital to speak with a 69-year-old man who said he honked his horn at a driver who ran a red light. The alleged light runner stopped and got out of his car, and the honker followed suit. That’s when the older driver says the younger man attacked him.

The older driver was taken first to Salem for treatment and then transferred to a Boston hospital as a precaution, according to police.

The suspect is a white male, in his late 20s or early 30s, about 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, with brown or dirty blond hair. He was driving a dark-colored Jeep or other type of SUV with faded paint.

Police said they want to speak with the other driver to get his side of the story before deciding on what charges, if any, should be brought in the case.
