Lynn fugitive arrested after trying to piggyback on a fare on the T

BOSTON — A 51-year-old Lynn fugitive was arrested after attempting to evade fare at the Andrew Square MBTA station by “piggybacking” behind a paying customer on Monday night.

Transit Police officers assigned to the Crime Suppression Team were conducting point-of-entry policing when they observed the incident, later identifying the man who tried to piggyback on the Boston fare as Michael Marino, Transit Police said.

Officers approached Marino to issue him a citation, but subsequently learned there were several warrants for his arrest out of Falmouth District Court, police said.

He was arrested on those warrant charges, which include larceny of a motor vehicle, destruction of property over $1,200, numerous motor vehicle violations, assault with a dangerous weapon, and being a fugitive from justice, police said.
