Man charged with assaulting, photographing a girl in Nahant

NAHANT — A 27-year-old East Boston man was arrested at the Town Wharf after assaulting and taking pictures of young girls, according to Nahant Police.

Cesar Pineda, of 25 Gladstone St., East Boston, was arrested and charged with indecent assault and battery of a child under the age of 14, disturbing the peace, and accosting or annoying a person of the opposite sex.

“These things don’t usually happen over here,” said Nahant Police Lt. Paul Manley. “It was an isolated incident.”

Pineda had previously been texting one of the young girls, said Manley.

“He had asked her for some explicit pictures, which she didn’t send,” he said. “He said ‘wouldn’t it be nice if we could kiss or do something else’ and she didn’t respond.”

He allegedly showed up at the Town Wharf and “his behaviors escalated,” Manley said. Pineda allegedly tried to kiss the victim and pushed her into a public bathroom.

Pineda was arrested by Nahant Police on scene. He was arraigned in Lynn District Court on Tuesday and held without bail, said Manley.
