LYNN – Dr. Joanna Duby has been promoted to medical director for Element Care’s Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), a non-profit, healthcare organization serving adults 55 and older.
Duby will be responsible for managing the delivery of medical care to the 1,000-plus Element Care PACE participants on the North Shore, Merrimack Valley, and the northeast region of Middlesex County.
“I am truly honored to be selected as Element Care’s new medical director and look forward to continue working with the passionate, caring and professional team that is Element Care,” she said. “In my new role, I’m excited about continuing to bring the PACE model of care to any and all adults in need so they can remain in the community and live happier, healthier lives.”
Duby brings more than 25 years of clinical experience as an internist and geriatrician to her new position. For the last 15 years, she has been a geriatrician at PACE at Element Care where she has led interdisciplinary teams to deliver highly coordinated and personalized care for older, frail adults. She has also been instrumental in integrating an electronic health record at Element Care and adapting it for PACE’s unique needs.
Element Care was founded in 1995, and is a non-profit, healthcare organization with the mission to help people live safely and comfortably in their homes and their communities for as long as they can, keeping their stays in hospitals and nursing facilities as minimal as possible.
“With her passion for geriatric care and her outstanding track record of success in elevating the health of our PACE participants, we are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Duby as our new Medical Director,” said Robert D. Wakefield, Jr., CEO of Element Care. “Having worked with Dr. Duby for over a decade, I am confident that she will be a tremendous asset to our organization for years to come.
“I would also like to thank Dr. Elizabeth Broderick for her many years of service as Element Care’s medical director. She is recognized throughout the PACE community for her incredible dedication to her patients and for her innovative work enhancing the PACE model of care. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
Duby, who is board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics, worked as a physician at Beacon Medical Associates in Swampscott, and at the Division of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Fla., before joining Element Care. She has been an integral part of the geriatric training of internal medicine residents at North Shore Medical Center since 2004. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and completed training in internal medicine and a fellowship in geriatrics from the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada.
Duby lives with her husband and multiple pets in Marblehead, and has three college-aged children.
