REVERE — A 61-year-old man who was pulled from the water at Revere Beach Monday afternoon remains in intensive care at Mass General Hospital and “has a possibility of survival,” according to State Police.
Lifeguards were called to the edge of the water for a man down just moments after he entered the water around 4 p.m. Monday, said State Police Spokesperson Dave Procopio. Beachgoers told police the man had been drinking alcohol with a female friend prior to taking a swim.
Lifeguards performed CPR and called for an ambulance. First responders with the Revere Fire Department and Cataldo Ambulance continued compressions on the man when they arrived at the beach and took him to Massachusetts General Hospital.
“As of the last update we received form the hospital, the victim was alive and in intensive care and had a possibility of survival,” said Procopio.
