Lynn Police Department to host a Citizens Police Academy in September

LYNN — The Lynn Police Department will be hosting a Citizens Police Academy, starting Sept. 12.

The 10-week academy will be held on Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lynn Police Department and will cover topics such as patrol and arrest procedures, motor vehicle law and criminal investigations.

The program also includes the opportunity for a two-hour ride-along with patrol personnel.

The academy will be limited to 20 students who must at least 18 years old and either Lynn residents or local business owners.

The deadline to apply is Sept. 1.

Applications can be obtained at the front desk of the police station or at www.lynnpolice.org. Each applicant will have to authorize a background check, which will be used to obtain a criminal history record prior to acceptance into the program.
