LYNN — A 35-year-old Lynn woman was arrested after attempting to rob a man on Hanover Street Friday afternoon, while claiming to have HIV and indicating to the victim that she had a syringe, police said.
Jackeline Hernandez was arrested and charged with attempt to commit crime and on warrant charges of assault and battery and unarmed robbery.
The 32-year-old victim told police Hernandez asked him for $20. She then wound her arm under her T-shirt and said she had HIV, threatening the victim with what he believed to be a syringe, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
Hernandez walked away from the attempted robbery with nothing, and responding officers later located her in the area where she was arrested after being positively identified, Kmiec said.
Police responded to 25 Hanover St. shortly after 1 p.m.
