LYNN — Two men were arrested after allegedly attempting to break into an Essex Street apartment building on Sunday night.
Misael Carrasquillo, 33, of Revere, was arrested and charged with trespassing, carrying a loaded firearm weapon, heroin possession with intent to distribute, cocaine possession with intent to distribute and violation of the city knife ordinance.
Pedro Martinez, 24, of Lynn, was arrested and charged with trespassing.
Lynn Police responded to 201 Essex St. shortly before 10 p.m. on a report of a possible breaking and entering, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
Upon arrival, they encountered Carrasquillo outside the building. Shortly after, Martinez appeared from around the corner, Kmiec said.
The owner of the building had described a suspect involved in the possible break-in, which fit the description of Martinez. A further investigation revealed Carrasquillo had a gun tucked into his waistband. He was also found with a knife and five packages each of heroin and cocaine, Kmiec said.
Police believe Carrasquillo was acting as the lookout while Martinez tried to gain entry to the building. Martinez was seen trying to get into the dwelling, but entry was not gained, Kmiec said.
