LYNN — Santander Bank will close its Exchange Street branch in September and merge with its nearby Market Square branch.
“On Sept. 28, Santander will close our branch at 39 Exchange St., and consolidate our services with our branch located one mile away at 35 Market Square, ensuring that we continue to meet the banking needs of our Lynn-area customers,” said Nancy Orlando, a Santander spokeswoman in a statement.
Orlando said customers were notified of the closure 90 days in advance and there won’t be any layoffs. All of the staff members at the closed branch will remain employed with Santander.
“We routinely review our branch network to make sure we are optimizing our resources and this consolidation makes good sense for both our customers and our business,” Orlando said in a statement.
Orlando said Santander leases the building at 39 Exchange St. and will maintain an ATM in it following the branch closure.
