Arrests

Smearlyn Acevedo-Dril, 33, of 444 Essex St., was arrested and charged with operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license and no inspection/sticker at 9:01 p.m., Friday.

Steve Almonor, 25, of 2 Main St., Peabody, was arrested on warrant charges of selling liquor to a person under 21, assault with a dangerous weapon, drug possession with intent to distribute, Class C drug possession, conspiracy to violate the drug law, armed assault to rob, extortion by threat of injury and malicious wanton property defacement at 8:30 p.m., Friday.

Rony Estaban-Lopez, 21, of 32 Nelson St., was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage and alcohol from an open container in a motor vehicle at 2:50 a.m., Sunday.

Joseph Gardner, 43, of 72 Lowell St., Peabody, was arrested on warrant charges of disorderly conduct subsequent offense, Class C drug possession, nighttime breaking and entering for a felony, larceny and receiving stolen property at 9 a.m., Sunday.

Abraham Lopez, 35, of 22 Henry Ave., was arrested and charged with OUI liquor second offense at 2:55 a.m., Saturday.

Jahkeel Mitchell, of 20 Rockdale Ave., was arrested on warrant charges of unregistered motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license, uninsured motor vehicle/trailer, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license, leaving the scene of property damage, failure to file an accident report, refusing to produce license/registration/plates and passing violation at 2:59 p.m., Friday.

Joseph Poretta, 58, of 64 Broad St., was arrested on a courtesy booking at 7:45 a.m., Friday.

Anthony Sheppard, 32, of 953 Western Ave., was arrested and charged with shoplifting by asportation, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, malicious wanton property defacement and on warrant charges of violation of a harassment prevention order, assault and battery on a police officer and shoplifting by asportation at 10:38 a.m., Saturday.

Katrina Turecki, of 4 Kingsley Terrace, was arrested on a warrant charge of assault and battery at 3:05 p.m., Friday.

Accidents

A report of a motor vehicle crash at 7:47 a.m. Friday on Roosevelt Avenue; at 9 a.m. Friday on Bessom Street; at 12:25 p.m. Saturday on Atlantic Avenue.

Complaints

A report of speeding cars at 11:19 a.m. Friday on Shorewood Road. A caller reported he’s lived in the neighborhood for 20 years and the traffic now is pretty ridiculous. He said 99 percent of the violators live in the area and would appreciate some enforcement.

A report of suspicious activity at 12:44 p.m. Friday on Shepard Street. A caller reported a man came to the house that morning while his elderly mother was home alone. The man told the caller’s mother that he grew up in the house and wanted to check the basement to see if there was a handprint there. The man was not let into the home.
