LYNN — The second day of the Lynn Parks and Recreation Summer Basketball League was just as much of a success as the first day, with six games across the three divisions played at the outdoor courts of Breed Middle School Tuesday afternoon.
In the elementary school division, Pizza Lovers defeated Cuff-McGinn Funeral Home, 48-42. Deono Abongo led the way for Pizza Lovers with an impressive 29 points, while Xavier Muniz added 11 points in the win. Cuff-McGinn was led by Kameron Rucker, who scored 23 points, while Travis Sanchez had 14 points.
The second elementary school game saw Xtreme Silkscreen & Design beat Lynn Firefighters Local 739, 47-11. Rowen Merryman had a solid day in the win for Xtreme Silkscreen & Design with 10 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Jason Perry added eight points and two rebounds in the winning effort. On the losing side, Farhan Abukar led the way for Lynn Firefighters Local 739 with six points, one rebound and two assists. Tyzaiah Cox had four points in the loss.
In the middle school division, Columbia Insurance took down Ram Electric by a score of 69-58. Lionel Rivera had a double-double to lead Columbia Insurance, notching 25 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in the victory. Glorie Cabongo had 14 points, three rebounds and four assists in the win. Ram Electric was led by Jane Tavarez’s 14 points and three rebounds, while Alejandro Fernandez added 15 points.
Gannon Building Associates earned the win in the second middle school game, beating Councilman Buzzy Barton 55-50. Oliver Gravely led Gannon Building Associates with 18 points, while Miguel Segura had 13 points. Wally Florencio scored 22 points to pace Councilman Buzzy Barton in the loss, while Victor Mafo had 13 points.
In the high school division, Panakio Adjusters took down Dart World 54-48 in the opening game. Aung Hein and Luis Rodriguez each had 11 points to lead the way for Panakio Adjusters. For Dart World, Hizel Espinal led the way with 19 points, while Josh Transtamar had eight points.
The second game in the high school division, between the Committee to Re-Elect Rick Starbard and Wood & Associates, ended in a 34-34 tie due to rain. Dyrrell Rucker led Committee to Re-Elect Rick Starbard with 12 points, two rebounds and three assists, while Natural Allen just missed a double-double with 11 points, nine rebounds and two assists. For Wood & Associates, Kyjuan Anderson led the way with nine points and Jeremy Aswande added six points.
The Lynn Parks and Recreation Summer Basketball League will make the move over to East Lynn for the next two days to play games at Lynn English Wednesday and Thursday.
