Lynn resident Mark DeJoie made powerful strides at Nahant Golf Club for Centerboard’s inaugural golf outing and fundraising event last week. The event’s proceeds will support families, children and youth on the North Shore experiencing homelessness.
DeJoie has been chief executive officer for the past 20 years at Centerboard, a Lynn-based nonprofit organization that revitalizes communities by investing in their people and places.
“Wow, the turnout we got is just so wonderful and helps so many deserving families get what they need to get themselves back on their feet,” DeJoie said.
The golf event and fundraiser sold out within the first several days of announcement, a fact that event organizer and Centerboard Board member Shawn Ford says, “It was easy to interest anyone who knows Centerboard’s great reputation in the North Shore community of helping families in need. Next year, we may have to find a larger venue to accommodate the number of folks we turned away this year.”
Centerboard serves more than 2,000 people each year through housing, access to employment and education, and financial empowerment. For more information, visit Centerboard’s website at www.centerboard.org.
