Peabody, Beverly win Northeastern Conference track meet

Peabody and Beverly ran away with the boys and girls championships Sunday in the Northeastern Conference meet at Peabody High.

The Tanner boys topped the field with 148 points, followed by Somerville (100), Marblehead (50), Gloucester (46), Everett (42) and Malden (40.5).

The rest of the field included, in order, Danvers, English, Swampscott, Classical, revere, Beverly, Medford, Salem, Winthrop at Saugus.

Beverly’s girls defeated Somerville, 159-91, with Peabody third with 78.5 points. The next three spots went to Malden (76.5), Gloucester (67) and Marblehead (61).

The other spots went to Medford, Saugus, Classical, Swampscott, Everett, Winthrop, Danvers, Revere and English.

Boys winners were: Juan Avelino, English, 100-meter dash (10.98); Phillips Magre, Somerville, 200 dash (22.58); Marcus Thomas, somerville, 400 (58.38); Marc Alperin, Peabody, 800 (2:04.49); Claudio Rocha, Peabody, mile (4:46.94); Shane Braz, Peabody, 2-mile (10:00.15); Jackson Anderson, Somerville, 110 hurdles (15.15).

In the relays, Somerville’s Luis Montana, Moise Nazaire, Wady Jimenez-Sanchez and Elijah Jeffries ,  took the 4×110 in 44:38; the Highlanders’s 4×400 team of Marcus Thomas, Anderson, Robert McCarthy and Magre won the 4×400 in 3:31.21; and in the 4×800, Malden took the prize with Oussama Ourich, Yousef Lahkiky, Omar Asousy and Ameen Anwar doing a 8:29.75.

Other winners were Magre, Somerville, high jump (6-4); Harchdy Souffrance, Everett, long jump 921-9.75) and triple. Jump (45-0); Dariel Canela, Peabody, shot put (48-0); Connor Ramos, Peabody, discus (146-9); and Canela, Peabody, javelin 9160-10).

Girls winners were Jolene Murphy, Peabody, 100 (12.49); Youdine Felix, Somerville, 200 (26.72); India  Ingemi, Beverly (58.38); Leah Rudolph, Gloucester, 800 (2:22.71); Eve Feurhach, Gloucester, mile (5:29.88); and Ashley Foley, Beverly 2-mile (11:33.89).

In the relays, Somerville’s  Nia McClean, Kemissa Osit, Kentra Greene and Lucy Childs won the 4×100 (52.38); Beverly’s Heidi Eberhardt, Ingemi, Uatchet Juch and Shelby DeGenier took the 4×400 (4:11.88); and Malden’s Jasmine Gray, Isabella Machado, Amanda Santorelli and Alexandria Russo won the 4×800 in 10:42.

Other winners: Aislinn Cannistraro, Somerville, high jump (5-2); Ingemi, Beverly, long jump (17-4); Tyler Orlandella, Beverly, triple jump (37-4); Alyssa Moreland, Beverly, shot put (33-6); Hannah Flores, Marblehead, discus (96-0.5); and Stephanie MacLeod, Beverly, javelin (111-4).


Bishop Fenwick swept first place for both boys (117 points) and girls (132).

In the girls meet, Fenwick’s Kate DelTorchio won the mile (5:38.70); Olivie Juneau of Fenwick took the 400 hurdles (68.78), Taylor Saggese the discus (91-8) and Corrine Ahern the javelin (101-03).

For the boys, Aiden Hill of Fenwick won the mile (4:45.05), James Brumfield of St. Mary’s the 110 hurdles (15.78) and the high jump (6-02), Jack Bowers of Fenwick the 400 hurdles (59.80).

Fenwick’s Bowers,  Zach Mizioch and Jack Keenan won the 4×400 relay (3:43.93), Simon Vinci of Fenwick won the shot put (46-10) and the discus (132-4) and Sean Walsh, also of Fenwick, took the javelin (136-00)
