LYNN — Prom season is heating up and local restaurant chains are taking part in the action.
Burger King on Boston Street asked its neighbor and rival Wendy’s to prom via marquee on Tuesday. The Lynn location was the only Burger King in the country to poke fun at the promposal phenomenon. News outlets all over the country, even the Daily Mail in London, picked up the story and the internet went wild.
“I think it’s cute and actually really funny,” said Kelsey Godin, the assistant manager of the chosen Burger King location. “I even called over to Wendy’s this morning because we were all hoping they would put something up on their sign.”
The Burger King corporate offices reached out to the Boston Street location on Tuesday and had them put up the initial promposal. By Wednesday, they added “She said yes!” on the back of the marquee and uploaded the pictures on their corporate Twitter account.
Ok, but don’t get handsy and we have to be home by 10. https://t.co/tQunlsqecG

The Wendy’s corporate account decided to end the friendly beef Wednesday morning by responding “OK, but don’t get handsy and we have to be home by 10.”
“To be honest, I didn’t even know about it until now but I’m not going to lie it’s pretty funny,” said Joel Figueroa, manager of the Wendy’s on Boston Street.
According to the Burger King tweet, they’re aiming to be named prom king and queen at the make-believe fast-food prom.
